I think that's the case, but don't take my word for it. I couldn't get it to work at all before I connected my Xbox. Using the ancient art of Google-fu, I found a post on another site stating that the auto-update had to be downloaded. So I logged on, downloaded it, and played without a problem.

Depends how badly you want to have another Les Paul around. Chances are pretty good it'll be obsolete once RB2 and GH:WT come out, but it's a damn fine guitar on its own.

I don't know that I HAD to, but I did update the game immediately. The Strat has worked perfectly since I plugged it in and used it with the game. I wouldn't have bought the bundle myself, since I already have the Xplorer and the GH III LP, but if you don't have that you might want the bundle. Assuming your Strat wouldn't work, of course. If it works, I'm all about the Strat.

I updated the game before I played, so I have no idea if it had anything to do with the compatibility. The manual and box say not to use third party guitars with the game, yet they are compatible! There are some boneheads working at Activision.

Thats not what it says. It says only GH Guitars are supported. They do this to try and keep people from calling and *****ing if their Mad Catz guitar doesn't work. Its standard practice for all companies to have messages like that

Does the strat only work on Xbox 360? Has anyone tested it on the PS3?

I can't guarantee anything, but I don't see why some would work and others wouldn't. It seems like if you do the auto-update (which it asks to do right away) before plugging in the Strat, it should work perfectly.
