You will quickly learn that DT is just like any other prog metal band, nothing about them makes them special except that they've had mainstream success unlike most prog metal bands. Don't get me wrong, Portnoy and Petrucci are fantastic at their instruments, but there are plenty of other prog metal musicians that I could say the same.
Except that Dream Theater makes more sense musically than many prog metal bands that just "play so fast with thoze crazy time signatures!!" who do it just because they can.

I'm certainly far from a DT fanboy, but anyone with knowledge of music (actual knowledge of theory and such, not just being familiar with lots of bands) knows that DT is much more musically talented and significant than almost any progressive band.

The argument of saying people like them because they play fast and in odd meters shows that you just don't get it.

Ugh, how could I? That whole album is deserving to be on the game. And I did use Dance of Eternity

You obviously like Prog Theater, not Metal Theater. In my opinion, the only thing less than miraculous they've ever made was Falling Into Infinity. I think every last one of the songs needs on their, but Pull Me Under needs to be close to the end of that list.

I agree with ya man! I am a big,...BIG fan and I understand about the real musical quality of their material. I know even people who are not fans can appreciate the compositions and arrangments. Speed isn't everything. It takes just as much discipline to play slow and precise as it does fast and aggressive.

I don't care how, whether it's through HMX or the RBN, we need Metropolis Pt. 1: The Miracle and The Sleeper at the very least.

    I'm getting tired of waiting...
Lionel Richie - "Running with the Night"
    Camel - "Lady Fantasy"
Type O Negative, Bad Brains, Madonna

    More:
    Dire Straits, Interpol, The Strokes

THIS. I'd like most everything off "Images and Words" and "Awake" and I'm good.

Dream Theater definitely needs to be in Rockband, They have some insane guitar playing and awesome drumming. Whoever doesn't like their stuff is just jealous haha but seriously their music is awesome!

Maybe they haven't added much Dream Theater because who knows maybe their coming up with Dream Theater Rockband! but thats just me.

Here's the lowdown on Portnoy, he's arrogant, he overplays, and he milks his sponsors for all they're worth. He builds these monster kits just because he can and because his sponsor will let him and because kids think it's cool, he never does it for what makes it actually useful. Their latest effort definitely shows an evolution in sound, but also shows a devolution in creativity and innovation.

Portnoy just wants DT to be in RB so he can make more money, not because he wants to send a message, which in my eyes is wrong.
hmmm lets go look at the dream theater youtube page
this is on the youtube page for dream theater
    PLEASE UPLOAD:
    BOOTLEG FOOTAGE
    TELEVISION APPEARANCES
    INTERVIEWS
    HOMEMADE CLIPS
    ETC.

no band in there right mind that is all for money encoarages bootlegging. dream theater wants there music to be out there.

as for his monstor kits he uses it, if he had a small kit his stuff wouldent sound as good. listen to his tombs during some of his rolls the pitch will go down on each one.

i will agree their last album wasent to great.

I had this dream where Rock Band put 6DoIT on Rock Band 3, and you could play it in sections, or as a whole, and it was amazing.
