Just learn your scales and chords, and how to read music, that's pretty much all you need to know. That, and control velocity. You can do that on your own.

Oh, I know my scales and chords, and I read music serviceably enough. What I lack is good coordination between both hands. The one thing the game hasn't helped improve.

Last night I sight read through a bunch of new songs that I bought. The victory for me was in the fact that I played "expert" on drums through all of them without giving it a second thought...... Except when I got to " And Justice For All" by Metallica. in which case, I hesitated for a moment wondering if I should change to "hard." Courage won the day, I played it on expert and got 4 stars for my effort. Clearly, I have work to do on the song, and my score is sooooo nothing to brag about, but it represents a new reality for me. A couple of months ago, I would not have even tried the song.
