I've played guitar for just over a year and a half now and recently got a new amp, tons of affects and i can finally play the music i want . My wah pedal broke on me, so im also stuck with only a piece of crap FAB overdrive pedal.

Lacking ability to actually SOUND like most good songs that i've wanted to learn has caused me to not try to hard...which sucks but...In roughly alphabetical order going through my Windows Media Player i see i can play:

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower Can play the rhythme for almost the whole song and then the lead intro solo, just not cleanly.

I know that i can play some stuff by ACDC and Def Leppard but the names escape me at the moment. This is just a rough overlay of what i have in my Media Player that i can play, i can do a few more songs...but i mainly picked up a guitar thanks to guitar hero so i've learned mainly Guitar Hero songs in the past.

Would LOVE to be able to get a few effects pedals but dont have the cash for it (as i just turned 16 and don't have a job quite yet). Anyone have any suggestions on good effects switches/pedals for playing music from Hendrix to Breaking Benjamin? Would love some advice on what to get to play mainly stuff from the alternative metal and rock bands (Protest The Hero, All That Remains, Breaking Benjamin, etc).
