seconded. Octavarium on Rock Band would keep me on the game for a month. Either that, or Scenes From A Memory, or Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence.

I was excited to see a Rush interview, but it is pointless to have an interview about Rock Band when they aren't really familiar with it.
I agree. Trent Reznor and Fred Schneider of The B-52s are the only other interviewees (in addition to Portnoy and Jimmy) I can think of that have previous experience with Rock Band.

There is also no way to differentiate from a tom hit or a cymbal hit in any song, and many of them, based on the tracks, aren't very clear.

It will be the most realistic thing we'll have to date, leaps and bounds beyond the completely unrealistic "kit" that comes with the game now or even what GH WT will offer, and is a sign that someone is paying attention and looking into ways to improve our playing experience. Most songs use the yellow for hi-hat so most games will be fine with the way its set up now. And for that song who says you couldnt plug the yellow cymbal into the red input to make this work for the song? It just might work, who knows? And the removeable controller plug-in whatever-ya-call-it is just that - REMOVEABLE. This allows for:

    1) converting this into a real electronic kit by adding a drum "brain" (perfect for me since I live in a condo) and
    2) allows for future controller interfaces to be developed to hopefully allow more inputs, configurations, etc. hopefully without having to buy a whole new kit

I cant see this as anything but a good thing for us drummers, the game and the future of things to come. I love how so many people "complain" about how unrealistic it is. Its a video game, people. Its a simulation. This is the same game that takes 120+ possible notes on a guitar and crams them into 10 or less buttons depending on which guitar controller youre using. All things considered, we're getting a much better deal than our stringed counterparts. You want realism? Go pick up the real instrument.

True enough-- Relatively few musicians seem to be avid gamers, at least for this kind of game. I figure the main purpose of an interview is to shed some light on the songs that you and I are playing in the game. If they have some experience of the game itself, great-- If not we can move onto talking about where the music itself came from.

That makes sense. It really interesting to hear all of the interviews, because ti helps me learn things about the band that I didn't before.

But I really want to see Portnoy play his song oon Rock Band.

Octavarium would be awesome... for another choice, although definitely not one of their better albums, Train of Thought would work well in Rock Band as well.

As a personal pick, I'd have to go with either Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence or Falling Into Infinity, although the latter might be a bit too synth-heavy for the game.
