Gene Simmons generally brags to others about his money, fame, gorgeous wife, all the women he has slept with to the point that most people (by now) have tuned him out. But I have also seen Gene be serious by acknowledging his fans and admit that if it wasn't for them, he'd be nothing. Personally, I don't even see where KISS is still relevant. But they still have one helluva following after all these decades. So, I'll give them that.

Talk about a jerk . . . he died several years back (he lived into his 90s), and was not a rock musician, but since you bring up Terri Gross, check out her interview with Jazz Clarinetist Artie Shaw. Now I know why the guy was married 4 or 5 times. What an opinionated, stubborn mule.

Awesome post. Equally awesome stories. And I was really glad to hear of your positive experience with Alan Parsons.

Uh, I think you meant to quote some people, but you didn't. To anyone.

    I'm loving this thread.

Anyway, I don't have a lot of stories about meeting musicians, but this happened. Was pretty awesome for me. Also met Stephen Malkmus a while back, seemed like a really cool dude.Met Jonathan Richman backstage at a Wilco show. He was in his own little world.

I've never met any jerk musicians, so my list would be the standard of Lou Reed, Danzing, Axl Rose, and so on.

Fruits sure are yummy. I see DLR as a mango though.

Has anyone ever actually had a mango? That's one of those fruits I've seen and heard about, but never actually had.

Oh yes, it's fine. It's a fine fruit. Among all the fruits it's a good fruit. I wouldn't consider myself a fruit specialist, but when I see a mango I can't help myself, they're just too fine.

Mangos are nice. They're a little too smooth for my taste, however. Though a little esoteric, rambutans are definitely my favorite. I like hairy fruits.
