Anyone done the CA State Fair drum-off?

Hi all,

I'm curious if anyone here has competed in the Energizer drum competition at the California State Fair. The only time I'll have to get out there and do it is Saturday for a couple of hours before work, but I want to know if it's even worth it before I take the time out of my weekend. Any idea about the format, the skill level of the competitors, any good prizes?

Too late now that the fair is over but I liked the tier format they used where first 2 are paired off, winner stays in and plays next, and so on. The day I went, there were mostly expert drummers, but it was on a Saturday. I was hoping they would have a band competition but they had thier hands full with people just trying to play on stage in the first place.

I went to the drum comp at the OC fair. I don't like the way they handle it. If you are playing first you have to beat EVERYONE. If you are playing last you just have to beat 1 person to win. I made it to the third guy.

I won the TX State Fair one earlier today. I got the energizer bunny and they are mailing me a Rock Band drumkit. It's supposed to be exclusive or something.
