QFT! Their first two albums were remarkably consistent, especially for a dance band. I haven't bought the third yet, but I heard it was a bit of a letdown.

    Also...

    Portishead (Trip-hop)
Nellie McKay (An odd combination of jazz, rap, comedy, and cabaret)
    Eric B. and Rakim (Hip-hop)
    Pet Shop Boys (Dance)
    Muddy Waters (Blues)

My tastes are most varied in rock, really, so my knowledge of other genres barely cracks the surface of them. I need more money for more CDs to delve further into each of them. I love them, nonetheless.

    Jazz:

    John Coltrane
    Thelonious Monk
    Chick Corea
    Charles Mingus
    Dave Brubeck
    Louis Armstrong
    Miles Davis

    Blues:

    Muddy Waters
    John Lee Hooker
    Buddy Guy

    Classical:

    Tchaikovsky
    Holst
    Dvorák
    Beethoven

    Country/Bluegrass:

    Johnny Cash
    Kenny Rogers
    Doc Watson
    Willie Nelson

    Folk:

    Gordon Lightfoot
    Phil Ochs
    Bob Dylan
    George Brassens

    Others:

Tom Lehrer (a piano-player with work mostly centered around parody. Kind of on the folky side, but not sure. Check out the compilation I did on him in the music blog, since no one's downloaded it)
George Gershwin (Showtunes, mostly classical-based in nature)
Bob Marley (only putting him under other since I haven't heard much reggae otherwise. Planning on downloading Afterstasis's reggae mixes soon, and hopefully catch up on the genre)
