Female Fronted Metal

[Lady Siara]

The lack of female fronted metal disturbs me. Thankfully, we are getting Visions by Abnormality and Our Truth by Lacuna Coil in Rock Band 2, but two songs do not represent a genre well. We got a girls of metal pack a couple of months ago that was a ton of fun, and I'd love to see more.

You are allowed to have your opinions, but don't waste space or my time by posting "omfg this **** sucks, that's a man (unless it actually is one and I am unaware, hawhaw), etc." There are better ways to get attention as a troll. Since the thread is called Female Fronted Metal, you know what to expect.

If you like a song or a band, don't forget to use the request song feature! That will do more work than this thread ever will. Also, don't forget to post! I love hearing about helping someone find great new music, and that's what makes this thread worthwhile. Voting helps me see what people think, too.

they'e had a couple of different record labels, though I think most of their famous stuff has been with Nuclear Blast, which houses alot of the Euro-metal acts.

Lacuna Coil (an Italian Band) is on a different label, so thats how that works.

I can somewhat understand the sentiment of equality or whatever it is that your trying to convey, but to have a chick band just for the sake of having a chick band, at least in my mind, is dumb. most mainstream metal acts are by men. a few times there have been all-female bands (like Kittie or Girlschool) but they never really take off; in most cases its a gimmick to get guys to pay attention, and it doesnt pay off.

I'm a little sad not to see My Ruin on the list, off the top of my head. I adore the Genitorturers (they made it in my own female fronted bands list but I do know they are not everyones cuppa). The Birthday Massacre may cross more towards industrial than Metal but...

Underrepresented? No. Most of it isn't even metal, just as atr isn't metal. Classic extreme metal is underrepresented, all we have is 3 Metallica songs and soon only 4 Metallica songs and a Megadeth album. That's nothing. If we even had 1 female fronted metal band then male fronted classic would be way WAY WAY WAY underrepresented, there's about 100 times as much male fronted metal as female fronted. There's no reason we should have a band in just b/c there's a girl singing anyway and I'm sorry but ALL of the classic stuff is male. Not a single female in any 80's extreme band, not ONE. Or in any classic heavy metal I might add. I really hope HMX covers classic extreme before they worry about 90's metalcore by and for girls (with very few exceptions).

pardon my french, but mainstream metal has got to be the biggest ****ing contradiction in music. keep in mind that there are a large ammount of people who absolutly refuse to listen to any genre of metal, because of differenct concieved notions of what metal is. as such, metal still has a long way to go before its considered a "mainstream" genre. and the bands that you listed off, are so the bands that most people would cringe just at hearing the name.
