Peter Green (born Peter Allen Greenbaum, 29 October 1946, in Bethnal Green, London) is a British blues-rock guitarist and founder of the band Fleetwood Mac.

A figurehead in the British blues movement, Green inspired B. B. King to say, "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard; he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats." Green's playing was marked with a distinctive vibrato and economy of style, as well as a unique tone from his 1959 Gibson Les Paul.[1] - a result of the guitar's neck pickup magnet being reversed to produce an 'out of phase' sound. He used a Fender Stratocaster on the track "Albatross", and used a National resonator guitar on "Oh Well Part I".

I saw this edition of Fleetwood Mac several times -- I actually couldn't get into the Lindsey Buckingham edition for such a long time because Peter's group was so fresh in my mind.

Peter Green is a treasure.

Think I'll go with Hughie Thomasson on this one. (There's a certain song in the game......on expert solo tour........it's the only one I have left.......now that I think about it, I may change my vote to Peter Green out of spite ).

Actually the Hughie parts in that song aren't bad to play -- and they're far more musical and tasty. His solo is always the first one.

Billy Jones -- that sounds right.

Hughie didn't play a lot of cliches. That's one thing that drives me nuts. The Skynyrd guys drive me up a wall. Even Clapton at times.

I was watching videos earlier and I ran across a Joe Bonamassa clip that talks about solos and technique. (I don't play but it was interesting to watch. It's more blues related so I think I'll post it in the blues thread).
