Thread: Lacuna coil

    Talking Lacuna coil

Holy carp!! I just played this song and fell in love with it! I have never heard of this band previously and I'm very pleased to have a potential new band I like.

Does anyone know of any other band or genre like this? It lists them as metal but they are far different than what I would normally consider metal.

If you like Lacuna Coil, I would recommend bands like Evanescence, Within Temptation, and Nightwish...

Well, typically they're referred to as "gothic metal". If you dig that song you'll probably enjoy their entire recent album "Karmacode". You may also want to look into such bands as Within Temptation and Xandria.

Stream of Passion, After Forever and Epica might be up your alley as well, although they have a stronger 'opera' influence than Lacuna Coil.

Ah yeah, Epica was the one I was forgetting to mention. Thanks for the reminder Lex

Also if you don't mind them swinging a bit towards the industrial / darkwave side of things, you may also want to look into In Strict Confidence, Blutengel, and Tristesse De La Lune.

I actually prefer their older stuff (Unleashed Memories and Comalies) over Karmacode (which Our Truth is from).

As others have said, Epica, Nightwish, After Forever, and Within Temptation are good starting points for female fronted rock/metal bands. Tristania is another good choice and is more on the gothic side than the other bands (which are more on the symphonic side, with the possible exception of Within Temptation).

Thanks guys! all that info is very helpful!

I do listen to Nightwhish but I don't like their new singer, shes a bit too "poppy", I prefer the operatic type of voice.

I actually agree with you on that. Definitely give Epica and After Forever a listen then. I'd suggest starting out with the albums Prison of Desire or Decipher for After Forever, and with The Divine Conspiracy for Epica.

You might want to give Leaves' Eyes a listen too. They have more of a 'folk-metal' sound, so i don't know if that's your cup of tea, but I've quite enjoyed their albums so far.

    Leaves' Eyes

    To a point.

But also check out the Comalies album by Lacuna Coil. It's their best, in my opinion.

My band played a show with Lacuna Coil last year and it was an absolutely blast. It was a pretty small club in Raleigh, NC, but LC rocked the house down. Great great stage presence.

If you like Lacuna Coil, you definitely want to check out Nightwish, Epica and Evanescence, as others have already said.

And as a bit of shameless self-promotion, we've been compared to LC and Evanescence quite a few times, so you might want to check out Wounded Soul too
