Maybe it's just my history in extreme metal, but it all just seemed really hokey to me.

Believe me, I can laugh at parodies and other jokes about the subject matter, but this just seemed like some guy who was way out of touch with topic at hand trying to appeal to fellow outsiders.

It was sort of like my granny making fun of Led Zeppelin's long hair or the way Kurt Cobain dressed in thrift-store clothes...
No offense to you, but I'm afraid it just gets an eye-roll.

I think he does go a little over the top with the "They're idiots" and "Jabba the Hutt" comments...

But just about 98% of the death metal stuff I've heard sounds like what he's describing.

Some of it is good stuff... a lot of it I can't stand though.
