Isn't Morrisey quoted as saying "I'd rather eat my own (part of male anatomy) than re-form The Smiths."

The Smiths would be great in RB, but did they ever sell well in the US and did the breakup lead to any legal minefields for HMX to get stuck in?

I know there was a massive legal blow-up between Morrissey and Marr on one side and Mike Joyce on the other over royalty payments (that the latter pair won). A quick perusal of Wikipedia seems to say that composer royalties weren't in question, so it would seem to me that Morrissey/Marr are still the rights holders to the songs, so getting them to agree to release the songs to the game would be all that would be required. Getting that to happen is another story...

    Yeah, "The Smiths".

But, Morrissey & Marr are friends, and they both oversaw the remastering of the songs used on "The Sound Of The Smiths" greatest hits compilation and (according to rumor ONLY) are planning on remastering the original Smiths albums and touring together (not as "The Smiths")

    Yeah!

That was a bad case, but Morrissey & Marr won it fair & square.

I think that in order for HMX to license the songs they would have to contact Morrissey & Marr. Morrissey performs Smiths songs live, so I think that means he has part of the rights to them.

Here is a video from 2004 of Morrissey performing "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out":

So, he would have to have some sort of right to the song in order to perform it in public, right?

If Singstar can have The Smiths, so can Rock Band!

Apparently, this version of the game has a master track of This Charming Man. At least Morrissey/Marr and/or The Smiths' record label is willing to give songs to video games, so there's still a chance to see them in RB.

In a game like Rock Band, The Smiths would kick so much a**!

Every member of the band brought something unique.

Bassists, guitarists, drummers and vocalists would enjoy playing their songs.

    The Smiths (for vocal fans)

Here are my personal Smiths/Morrissey Favs. These would no doubt be a treat to RB vocal fans. All of their stuff is def full band worthy.
