well i went to best buy to pick up wall-e and look and they have it set up so after calibrating it i sit down to play it and wouldent you guess red pad is dead. it was a brand new out the box set, i watched the lady set it up, waste of time.

If RB2 doesn't make it's software compatible with GHWT instruments then I'll be mighty pissed and likely not buy RB2 at all even though I know it's a better game, I just wouldn't be able to support a company that would show that much disregard for Wii owners. Time will tell.

At the moment GHWT is THE best band game available for the Wii so keep that in mind.
About 50% of the Wii buyers went through what I call "Buyers Remorse". There are loyal people, but the other 50% have 360's or PS3's who bought RB2 on that...

Personally I do 90% of my gaming on PC right now and about 10% on consoles. My favourite genre's are RTS and RPG so I don't really have a very compelling reason to buy a 360 or a ps3, Fable 2 looks good but the original came to PC eventually so why bother, I'm fairly patient.

I first started in Guitar games by playing GH2 once last christmas and I promply ordered GH3 for my PS2 afterwards (didn't have the Wii yet at the time). Played through GH3 and really enjoyed it, great setlist. I saw Rock Band when it was released and thought about getting it for my PS2 but I'm really glad I rented it first. Rock band seemed really boring for the PS2, I only played guitar since I rented it but it was pretty boring. Songs weren't as fun and the game was missing so many features that GH3 was better for the PS2 by far.

I've never actually played RB on a proper sytem 360/ps3 but the world tour and character creator and all that sounds pretty fun. When I got the Wii I looked at picking up RB1 until I realized it was based on the watered down PS2 version and couldn't justify it. Now GHWT is out and it's pretty much just as good as the 360/ps3 versions so I'm pretty pleased with it but want to wait and give RB2 a chance to impress me since Harmonix claims it will be similarly equal to their 360/ps3 version.

What worries me is that Harmonix has already disappointed me with the Wii RB1 and with the delay to get RB2 out for the Wii. If they can't make their instruments conform to Wii standards and be compatible with the GHWT gear then I think that'll be enough to convince me not to buy anything from them ever.

Sorry for the long post, I was just trying to give 360/ps3 owners an idea of how Harmonix needs to come through for Wii owners with RB2 or there will be a lot of disappointed Wii owners that go to GHWT just because they aren't getting any Harmonix love.

First Impressions since I've only play tested the drums and mic and given the guitar a quick play.

Drums seem nice and solid, but haven't given them a good going over since I live in an upstairs flat and don't want to give the guy downstairs a headache as I have wood flooring. Will give them a bit of a hammering this weekend when I get a mat to deaden any vibrations.

Mic seems canny enough and picks up noise well. Would have preferred no need to have an Xbox controller plugged in at the same time, but then I've been accused of wanting the moon on a stick at times.

The guitar seems nicely weighted and has a good 'smooth' feel to it in normal play. Seems to be better at unleashing overdrive as well. However, the touch pad is terrible - playing through the tutorials and trying to do the tapping and wah wah produced the 'missed note' sound more than the actual noise it was supposed to. Don't se meself using this that much (or ever) in the regular game.

UK pre-release 'Bass' controller. Cheers for another Explorer controller Activision - the more cynical amongst us would think they had a warehouse full of old controllers that they couldn't sell and thought of a good way to get rid of them at no cost. Would have preferred another Les Paul TBH - at least I might have got a free pack of batteries to use with that.

The game - first song. Living on a Prayer. Doesn't seem overcharted too badly (although I'm sure there are parts where I'm playing to keyboard). Then WTF - the end of the song has this horrible bit to cover the fade out with a repeat of Richie Sambora playing the guitar / vox box intro . Now in the last twenty two years of listening to this song I can't remember this part at all! Thought that this was supposed to be all masters. I know that it's hard to decide what to do to end a song that just fades out, but this is just so badly done - it's like an audio version of a really appalling photoshop. It actually sounds like the disk has jumped back to the start of the song. I dread to think what other delights live later on in the set list (at least Rock Band has Living on a Prayer on the disk to see how Harmonix have tackled the fade out ending)

bumpage, for people who wanna post their opinions on the matter. I've been doing more playing, and I'd like to state my opinion on the Guitar HEro World Tour Music Studio....it sucks. It's completely user unfriendly, and I couldn't find a single damn tutorial in the game. it was just: go to the recording studio, press record, jam for a bit, then go to the other bit in the studio for fine tuning...right?

well I did that, and I can't carry over from the studio to the GHtunes studio...and I can't place anything on there. it pisses me off!
