Post We want more Prog Rock / Metal!

First off - I realize there are other prog threads... Harmonix is going to notice if there are lots so I made another one.

    Edit:
Keep posting with your ideas! Lets try and float this thread for as long as possible!

Some bands to add (thanks for the help!)

Not sure if this is an option, but Pink Floyd would ROCK!

    Epica
    Into Eternity
    Ayreon (how could i forget?!?!)
    Jethro Tull
    Pain of Salvation
    Marillion
    Transatlantic
    Rush
    The Ocean
    Coheed & Cambria
    Yes
    Devin Townsend
    King Crimson
    Genesis
    Queensr˙che
    Ephel Duath
    Burst

    Original Message:

I love the Dream Theater FINALLY made it into RB. However, this is a genre that is PERFECT for RB. Great vocals... amazing solos... wicked riffs and intense drumming. Great for people who want a challenge on expert and cool for people playing easy because the songs are catchy!

A few bands off the top of my head:

    Dream Theater -
good start but we need more, maybe something everyone can enjoy like As I Am... catchy chorus and INSANE solo.

    Symphony X -
You really can't go wrong with any of their songs and HELLOOOO.... all of their songs are catchy and the majority of people can enjoy them

Pagan's Mind - A little easier than the first two but still fun to play. Very very catchy, especially during a chorus.

    Porcupine Tree
    - Tell me you can't find ONE good song in this band's huge library and I'll tell you to GTFO

    Opeth
    - Don't make the same mistake you made with Megadeth... GO NEWER. The newer stuff is easier on the ears and fans of metal/the band itself can enjoy it. Awesome songs with great melodies and drumming.

Tool - Yeah GH:WT has some but honestly there are better Tool songs... TAKE EM! I don't even like tool that much but come on they are huge.

    Kamelot
    - Ok this is probably THE catchiest metal/prog/epic band I know... everyone i've shown a kamelot song to has liked it... $$$ for hamonix and for us.

Liquid Tension Experiment - Ok so it cuts out vocals but these songs are amazing and a song or two by them wouldn't cause too much whining haha (sorry singers).

Nightwish! - Ok i am seeing prog threads... i am seeing metal threads... i am seeing FEMALE singer threads. This band is your answer Harmonix... THREE birds one stone. Awesome riffs, girl singer, very heavy and very catchy. Cha-ching.

    Sonata Arctica
    - Not sure if they apply, but these guys are upbeat and catchy and very fun to play.

OK! so there's a few of my ideas. Please bump this thread and add some of your ideas as well people!

I'm really just trying to come up with ideas that Harmonix will find appealing because they can make good cash but also good solid songs that can make a lot of people (meself included) very happy.

Lets get some good metal/rock that everyone can enjoy!

PS: A side request. Can we please get some new Megadeth? I mean new as in made this decade. I'm a big megadeth fan and honestly the new stuff is KILLER and more people would enjoy it.

How on earth do you make a prog rock thread - and leave out Queensryche.

Rockband needs Operation: Mindcrime and Empire. And SOON.

    Classic Rock?!

Rush is THE prog rock band, and I'd buy any and all of it - as it comes.

2112 - I'd pay 7,000,000,000 MS points for that album.

    Rush is progressive you idiot.
Rush influenced most of the bands you listed above.

Progressive rock bands pushed "rock's technical and compositional boundaries"[1] by going beyond the standard rock or popular verse-chorus-based song structures. Additionally, the arrangements often incorporated elements drawn from classical, jazz, and world music. Instrumentals were common, while songs with lyrics were sometimes conceptual, abstract, or based in fantasy. Progressive rock bands sometimes used "concept albums that made unified statements, usually telling an epic story or tackling a grand overarching theme."[1]
Progressive rock developed from late 1960s psychedelic rock,[1] as part of a wide-ranging tendency in rock music of this era to draw inspiration from ever more diverse influences. The term was applied to the music of bands such as King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Soft Machine and Emerson, Lake and Palmer.[1] Progressive rock came into most widespread use around the mid-1970s. While progressive rock reached the peak of its popularity in the 1970s and early 1980s, neo-progressive bands have continued playing for faithful audiences in the subsequent decades.[1]
Hm...Sound like Rush to you? More to prove my point:

Think before you type, sir. Also, you can NEVER have enough Rush.

I'm going to overlook the inclusion of Kamelot (closer to Power) and Nightwish (closer to Symphonic/Power), simply because you didn't include Rush. I can't stand Rush and they are extremely overrated by members of this board. I love LTE, Symphony X, Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater.

i would kill for Opeth, but i would like some older opeth as well, the song "to bid you farewell" would be very easy on the ears, but i would really wanna play "black rose immortal" or "masters apprentices". as far as newer opeth goes, well idk wen u make the break between old and new so im just just gonna stick with watershed and ghost reveries. from those i would want "Reverie/Harlequin Forest", "Heir Apparent", and "The Grand Conjuration".
