"New" or "Nu" Prog is such a stupid term and I will always deem it nonexistent. What is new rock bands called new rock? Is new pop called new pop? No. Stupid.

Fair enough, I suppose. I dont know much about alternative rock let alone those who have a strong worship for adding progressive elements into their albums. I just think its silly that bands like Coheed and Cambria and Muse are in there with King Crimson and Porcupine Tree. And there's always Tool. Their genre's always been bar brawl inducing.

What? Modern Progressive Rock bands don't ascend to a new point where it's long past what it's been. Instrumentation is just modernized. That is not what post means. Post means to surpass, so yeah; no.

Yeah, but who uses post-thrash? Everybody I know in metal communities in reference to Prong, Pantera, etc. call it Groove Thrash.

    Post-Thrash doesn't matter nor count.

Those textbook definitions don't necessarily apply to the majority of the post music movements (post-hardcore, post-rock, etc.)

The issue is that nu-metal (I can't speak for other "nu" genres) actually has distinctive tendencies that separate it not only from other forms of hard rock but also from traditional metal. If you want to come up with a different term for it, be my guest, but the genre exists.

Post-Grunge is one example that works in your favor. One. Only because music revisionists haven't renamed it yet.
