after playing three local shows over the past few weeks (and leaving early after two of them) i've come to terms that social anxiety has made it nearly impossible for me to be in crowds like that for long periods without serious drugs.
as for flaming lips, it's all about "clouds taste metallic", though "the soft bulletin" is a close runner-up.
The Soft Bulletin > Embryonic > Transmissions > Yoshimi = At War with the Mystics
The Soft Bulletin took me about four listens to understand why it was their classic, as Yoshimi was my favorite for awhile.
Also, don't take At War being last as me not liking it, as it's still one of the better alt-rock albums I've heard.
EDIT: @stasis: I need to get Clouds Taste Metallic. While we're talking about it.....
Blow yer' harmonica son
it's not how things used to be, but i've quickly turned into one of those jerks who tries to stay to the side of the stage to watch everyone else play their set, unless it's a smaller show where i know quite a few people.
As for ratings
At War With The Mystics > Embryonic > Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots = Transmissions From The Satelite Heart > The Soft Bulletin
"A culture's teachings, and most importantly, the nature of its people, achieve definition in conflict."
The Soft Bulletin is so much better than At War and At War is my favorite...
Not the same pop genre, so not comparable.i will say i prefer miike snow to gaga
