Has anyone else heard the new Dream Theater song yet? It's pretty good I guess.

Just listened to it... quick appraisal? Here's to hoping they jettison LaBrie for the next album. Vocals were about as bad as they've ever been from him, and it sounds, from the content, that he had a hand in writing the lyrics (my opinion on LaBrie as a lyricist is pretty well-known).

In terms of instrumentation, seems very heavily weighted toward Rudess, apart from a reasonably pedestrian (by DT standards) solo from Petrucci. Myung and Mangini may just as well have been invisible on this track. Sound overall seems very, very akin to one of the softer tracks off of Systematic Chaos.

All I can say is the rest of the album had better be a hell of a lot better, or else this might be a bigger disappointment than the albums this year from Pendragon and Yes (and that's saying something).

I'm expecting the rest of the tracks to be better. It seems like generally that Dream Theater singles aren't as good as the rest of the album. At least more recently. And why get rid of LaBrie? He's been their voice since Images and Words. I know he's having vocal troubles though. When I saw Dream Theater last Summer, whenever he wasn't singing he would run behind a bunch of amps and drink some water while bouncing up and down. He did sound good when he was singing though during that concert.

Funny, if that is the case it might appeal to me, Sys Chaos is one of me faves as a whole...

There are workarounds I've seen. I imagine most proxy programs like HideMyAss should do the trick.
