Out of curiosity, anyone read these days?

I had a whole summer reading list, but Moby Dick has made me hateful towards books (have to read it for AP Lit, along with Invisible Man by Ellison). I am currently reading The Count of Monte Cristo, but I still want to read Catch-22, A Tale of Two Cities, and the Killer Angels.

Also, William Faulkner is by far my favorite author, loved As I Lay Dying and The Sound and the Fury.

Yeah, I'm currently reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which comes after finishing A Clockwork Orange and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich earlier this summer.

As for Discworld, it's a great series. Pratchett is a very clever writer. Which books in the series have you read?

Few of the Rincewind books and Mort, own more than half of them but my big passion is for The Watch series, I'm up to The Fifth Elephant and am ****ING lovin' it!

I love his style, stream of consciousness and narrative point of view have become my favorite stylistic choices. Funny, considering he was heavily influenced by Moby Dick, which I can't stand for the most part. And on top of that, Herman Melville (author of Moby Dick) was influenced by Nathaniel Hawthorne, who I hate with the passion of a thousand suns.

I'll do that (check out the band, I mean). I do like As I Lay Dying, though (only Faulkner book I've read). The narration style is really interesting.

Cool. I forget exactly how many books I've read, but I know it's included Rincewind, The Watch, and I think one or two other groups. I have to agree The Watch is friggin' hilarious stuff.

Lately I've been rereading a lot of Hemingway's stuff. After I finish To Have and To Not, The Old Man and the Sea and A Farewell to Arms (my personal favorite), I've been planning a few classics to start reading for the first time.

I still need to check out Farewell to Arms, I read The Sun Also Rises and it was pretty good. I also need to check out some more Steinbeck to see if he has more stuff like Of Mice and Men (which was awesome) or Grapes of Wrath (which wasn't so awesome).
