Screw Smells Like Teen Spirit and Come As You Are. Breed and Territorial Pissings were the best songs on Nevermind.
We need sludgey and droney and stonery metal:
    Dirge
    Sleep
    Bongripper
    Sunn O)))
    Electric Wizard
    Earth
    Neurosis
    Cult of Luna

Those 2 are among the worst on the album.

I like both a lot, but they don't beat "Lounge Act" or "On a Plain".

As far as Nevermind goes for me I divide the songs up like this:

    Good:
    Smells Like Teen Spirit
    Come as You Are
    Polly
    Lounge Act
    Something in the Way
    Endless, Nameless

    Meh:

    In Bloom
    Breed
    Lithium
    Territorial Pissings
    Drain You
    Stay Away
    On a Plain
    RB Wishlist:
    Candlemass
    Cream
    Genesis
    Hüsker Dü
    King Crimson
    Kyuss
    Led Zeppelin
    Ne Obliviscaris
    Pink Floyd
    Porcupine Tree
    Type O Negative

How in any way am I being common?

I stopped pretending to like artists just because they are "big" or "influential" or whatever those idiots at Pitchfork are raving about a long time ago. I mean in truthfulness, at one point I was indifferent towards them, but I've found myself disliking them more and more now with age.

I find them incredibly boring, even moderately pretentious alternative rock.

If you really do like them, fine by me. If you like them because and only because they are huge or influential then I cannot respect that.

I guess that's the crime of being capable of forming my own musical opinion.

I just ran around party city with a pitchfork poking my brother in the butt yelling that he reminds me of The Mars Volta, and he will never get Best New Music.

Whether or not you don't like them, saying you are better of not having listened to one of the most influential and critically acclaimed (from both critics and artists) noise-rock and alternative rock bands is just wrong. What do you loose by listening to them? Compared to what you can gain if you enjoy them? Are you much worse off in life having heard Sonic Youth? I would say you are ignorant musically not knowing of Sonic Youth, are you therefore 'better off' remaining ignorant?
