The reccs thread is a little dead in the water as of late, so I'm gonna use this one for such purposes...

I need a couple bands to really fall in love with. Not just some good music, but something that's going to make me feel. Like the first time I heard the Mats or The Smiths.

I'm assuming most peeps on here know my general likes and dislikes. I don't usually get too attached to metal or anything of the like. Probably any sort of indie and/or folksy type stuff, but I'll take whatever ya got.

They may seem common and thats because they are but none of them are on your list. Wish I could help more but I really don't like indie.

I'm sorry, saying I don't like "indie music" is like saying "I don't like baroque pop, sunshine pop, folk pop, folk rock, garage rock revival, alternative hip-hop, dance pop, post-punk revival, rock, psychedelia, progressive rock, alternative rock and piano rock." because those are all genres 'indie music' touches on, pigeonholing it to The Killers and The Stroke is equally as narrow-minded and ignorant as people thinking all metal sounds like Metallica and Iron Maiden. If one does not understand, comprehend and broaden his scope; then he stays a generic unknowing man who does not understand what his peers do.

I like all of the bands you linked, I really do; but a combination of you dismissing a style and the way I imagined the attitude was presented just set me off. I apologize if I sound antagonistic, but I can't stand musical ignorance and assumptive pretensions.
