it's a slower, mellower album, but I still strongly recommend going through it start to finish

Yeah I can tell it's a mellower style but I will definitely try to do that soon.

I remember jamming some Dio, Rainbow, and Sabbath records the day Dio passed away and my parents have no idea who he was either. On a related note, the Whitney Houston stuff has engrossed my mom for past few days.

RO: Damn, Ghoul is such a fun band to listen to.

I remember listening to Dio's work the day he died and then going to a Mastodon concert two days after and throwing up the horns in honor of Dio with a smile on my face thinking Dio the man may be gone but his legacy live on through the countless metal bands he's influenced.

Also, it seems like the media will gloss over and even avoid covering when a hard rock/metal artist dies. I remember a 12 month span where Chuck Schuldiner, Paul Baloff, Layne Staley, Robbin Crosby, and John Entwistle died but the media seemed to only give a s*** about Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes' death.
Bands I'd love to see as DLC for Rock Band:

    Bathory []
    Bal Sagoth []
    Amorphis []
    Emperor [X]
    Enslaved []

I remember Entwistle getting a fair bit of media attention at his passing, more than the others, but still nothing compared to "Left-Eye" (although, in all fairness, the circumstances of her death were one of those things that generates a lot of press attention, same with Aaliyah).

Yeah, Any Man In America is a much shallower release than all of their other albums. With the divorce the lead singer was going through while recording it, most of the emotional content seemed to be very one-sided and tiresome, although understandably so.

Their first two albums are where it's at, though.

Didn't "Left-Eye" swerve off the road and hit a tree in the middle of Honduras. I could see the press attention she had if a Howler Monkey stabbed her to death with a Mayan Spear and it was caught on videotape.

Freak accident, middle of nowhere, sudden death... those all tend to increase the media attention factor.

The fact that she was also an attention whore while alive didn't hurt, either.

She merely drove off the road like an idiot

Likely the reason why people talked about her death. After all, she burned down some dude's house because she felt like it.
