They've got some tight hooks. Some of their other songs are much less metal-oriented, too. Their singer channels a mix of oldschool Davey Havok and Glenn Danzig.

Considering listing Nekromantix and Tiger Army, you might want to look into HorrorPops.

I wonder why we have subgenres if we keep dumping stuff that would have fit them into a generic "rock" category instead.

Hey, it said randomly crap out my opinion, and I presume the opinions are supposed to be music-related.

I think me and everyone else here could find a term for any particular music or artist that isn't just plain old "Rock".

I was kinda hinting at the game's use of the "Rock" genre, especially in the early days when alternative, indie, and even punk got shoehorned into "Rock": http://i1193.photobucket.com/albums/...he/NotRock.jpg

They seem to have gotten better with the use of the alternative/indie/punk genres, but I still want "Rock" done away with. I would rename "Rock" to "Hard Rock", and add blues-rock to Blues and surf rock to Reggae/Ska.

Personal misinterpretation noted. We usually talk about music in general here rather the game itself.

The problem is with Harmonix's "Rock" is that, most of it is hard rock, but not all of it. It seems that terms the engine does not recognize or more of the near-unclassifiable types of rock bands like Electric Six also are fitted into "Rock".

Surf rock has no connections whatsoever to reggae or ska.

Oooh It's been a while since I've jammed the HorrorPops. Thanks for reminding me.

    I kind of realized that.

I would use "Other" to classify otherwise unclassifiable rock, if it wasn't better used for other non-rock genres.

Guitar Hero put the free reggae pack (if I remember right) under "Surf Rock". Then again, Guitar Hero had a "Modern Rock" genre, that seemed to me like the alternative/indie/punk that was mainstream-y enough to be dumped into "Rock".

Back on the topic of music in general: The Yamaha DX7's E. PIANO 1 preset was one of the worst things to happen to music.

RO: If Nickelback had balls, they'd be Black Stone Cherry.

RO2: Redd Kross isn't talked about nearly enough on these boards.
