We actually did it on Halloween but didn't tell anyone for a while. I needed some dental insurance, basically.

We're still working through a lot of stuff she missed due to age (Criterion, 80's horror, etc.), but she's even been pretty into stuff from David Lynch, Harmony Korine, and quite a few others you wouldn't expect if you had known her prior taste.

Speaking of Criterion, I picked up Seven Samurai from Barnes & Noble's annual sale. One of my favs, so I'm glad to own it.

I picked Antichrist up used for $5 a few months ago.
I don't spend much money on cinema because I owe music too much.

Speaking of Harmony Korine, I read about Spring Breakers, his new one due next year, and it sounds completely bonkers, so I feel like I should like it seeing as I'm a big fan of the rest of his output that I've seen (Kids, Gummo, Trash Humpers)

Anyway, it's cool that she's digging the films you've been showing her.

The Criterion Collection is really such a useful program or whatever you want to call it, even if some of the choices are real head-scratchers. I've picked up a few films (especially Italian ones) that are on the Criterion label.

My favorite Criterion movies are Seven Samurai (really, any Kurosawa), Chasing Amy, M, Charade and My Man Godfrey. A pretty eclectic selection, but it shows just how varied their choices are.

8½ is far and away my favorite movie of all-time, so that of course tops my list of favorite Criterion movies. Fellini is my favorite director, so a lot of his films are up there. Of course, there's also ones like The Seventh Seal, Grand Illusion, Paths of Glory, The Great Dictator, and so on.

Also, congrats on the marriage, stasis.

8 1/2 is my fav Fellini as well. I love his work, along with the other films and their directors that you mentioned.
