RIP Marvin Hamlisch...amazing composer and conductor. I got to see him conduct the Pasadena POPS orchestra multiple times and was present at his last concert just a couple weeks ago. Hilarious guy, sad to see him go due to sudden illness.

lol... no. If Pink Floyd is "wank", then most anything is. Most of their music isn't particularly challenging in terms of the demands on the musician. Possibly a bit self-indulgent from time to time, but most musicians are.

First off: **** any music that repeats 4 or less measures all over the song, no matter the genre. I like music well built. prog is probably one of the best genre. Why? will you ask me, well there is alot of reasons, but the more important reasons are, the way the songs are built, and of course, the lack of constant 4/4 timing. The combination of those two makes it delightfully eargasmic. Some examples would be (of course) Rush, Dream theater, Animals as Leaders, Between the Buried and Me, Speric Universe Experience, Queensr˙che, Pink Floyd and so on. All those artists are brillant, totally brillant.

Now let's talk **** about ****ty music!

**** 99.9(periodic)% of rap/hip-hop/reggae and that kind of stuff. Can't stand constant 4/4 with 4 or less measures on repeat for the good part of the song. I would love to ***** more about that genre but since there is almost nothing in it, there is not much to ***** about, maybe the usual ugly lyrics too, even if I don't listen music for its lyrics.

Electronic music: Electronic music is weird. Why? Well, sometimes it can be drastatically ugly, and sometimes the composition sounds great. The little **** that I can't stand is that it's not a human that recorded that music, well technically yeah, but he didn't played it, he clicked it (aka, mixed on a computer).

    Celine Dion sucks.

    Justin Bieber is even worst.

    That is all.
I hope you realize that 4 of your artists have a TON of material in 4/4. BTBAM also can't write a compelling song to save their lives.

Aside from that, there's so much more awful stuff going on in this post that I don't know where to start.

I'm going to be there from the end of this month until the middle of December, and I can't wait. It's definitely not a very vegan-friendly country, though.

Not a bad band to enjoy, honestly. Even a lot of their worst stuff is at least mildly tolerable. I just find it frustrating that so many people think of them as being the be-all and end-all of progressive and psychedelic rock, when they're mostly just a high-quality, accessible version of the styles.

Pink Floyd is a gateway progressive rock band, if you ask me. Once you get more into Pink Floyd, many of their elements make other prog bands highly accessible. That's what happened with me.

Floyd's stint at space rock is still some of my favorite moments of the style.

Agreed - them and Hawkwind's brief era with Lemmy are my highlights of the early days of the style.
