Was that supposed to Microsoft's "Big Announcement"? I can't say I'm impressed.

RO:Even though I don't know the full line(I guess part of the bass line by look at a keyboard transition), Dancin Fool is good for random fun.

I'm actually kind of disappointed with The Beatles annoucement. 45 tracks? I mean, it looks awesome, and I will still buy it, but...It's only 45 songs!

Seriously, can someone tell me what this is about? I can't seem to find anything on this.

Edit: Found some articles, but I don't really see the point of it.

After the U2 album leaked, the RIAA went and got all pissy (like always), and decided to try and get listening info from last.fm's owner (CBS). CBS told last.fm that they wanted the info for "internal uses" but instead gave it to the RIAA.
A leak informed TechCrunch (blog). CBS pointed fingers at last.fm. Last.fm flatly denied it, and got generally *****y towards TechCrunch. Eventually more info came forward that showed that both CBS and last.fm were essentially lying (last.fm technically wasn't when they said they didn't give it to the RIAA, but they never mentioned about the fact CBS did).

It's unclear how the RIAA could use this info (and if it's just metadata or if it contains specific user IPs). Worst case is that RIAA uses is to sue people (which they claim to have stopped, but really haven't). It could also be used to help define "statuatory damages" to piracy (a big issue in three upcoming cases).

Well, in that case, I should probably delete Wilco's new album from my library...
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.

No use. The information has already gone to the RIAA (this happened a few months ago now), and deleting it from your library has little use (as last.fm will still have it on record). Best thing would to not scrobble any future leaked albums.
Though there are tons of legal issues (last.fm just tracks ID3 tags, not "mp3 signatures" and even mp3 sigs can have issues). It would be difficult to prove that you pirated the album.

Wait so they are suing people who downloaded U2's new album

To be fair, I've listened to leaked albums in the past with no repercussions and Wilco even acknowledged the album's leak and put the album up for streaming on their website, so I don't think there should be any problem with this release.
