That type of thing I enjoy. I love rhythmic elements. Every other phrase being "**** YOU ALL! **** MY LIFE! **** EVERYTHING YOU BELIEVE IN!!" turns me way off.

EDIT: This song is the perfect example of nu-metal that really turns me on. So much ****ing energy.

Im more of a melody guy myself (not that I dont appreciate rhythm, I have a guitar playing background mostly). I think Metallica's best work was when they utilized dual melodies. Look at the outro to Fade to Black to see what I mean. You have to lead guitar carrying off its own thing while Burton and Hetfield carry the iconic outro melody.

Definitely see where you're coming from with that. While I do appreciate melodies immensely when they work with the rhythm, for me it's the rhythm that drives the song and actual takes it somewhere. The melody is almost like bells and whistles, if you know what I mean. It's nice, but unnecessary. It can definitely add extra layers to the songs and make them brilliant, but it can also ruin the song. Just depends.

Infamous Woodstock '99 indeed. Some guy has video on youtube called "Woodstock '99: The Day After" and there's just **** everywhere. But, as far as nu-metal goes, it was a great line-up. And it was one of Metallica's best performances with James halfway to long hair.

But no matter how Woodstock '99 will end up being remembered, you can't deny that the crowd went off when that song's main riff kicked in. And I know what's it like to not get any good metal shows (good shows in general). The best we've had around here is AC/DC a few months back, and those tickets sold out in <5 minutes.

Other time was with Chevelle, apparently, I really dont remember as Ive seen Chevelle 3 times in concert (Once with Stone Sour headlining, once with Disturbed headlining).

What I meant by metal shows is none of my favorite metal bands ever stop by Oklahoma City. Bands like Opeth, Atheist, Necrophagist, Cynic, etc... ;[

To be honest, I've never heard of any of those bands touring at all.

Hell, last time I saw Metallica it was a 5 hour drive to Texas. Coincidently they were tourign with Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones, and Mudvayne for St Anger tour. Man was that nearby Taco Bell slammed after we got out at 1am. Literaly 1:15min in line.
