I do, I thought it was just poorly incorporated. Also, there's way too much of it going on in my opinion. This one's not bad, but with other artists (like Rihanna,) it pretty much acts as the song's hook. Which is unoriginal.

RO: My first exposure to Om is great, really enjoying Conference of the Birds.

People like Rihanna are bad without sampling, though and make the artform pretty formulaic and cheap. This sampling choice isn't bad and the usage isn't too dominant. Kanye at least understands sampling and producing to a point where he doesn't cheapen it unlike other producers (Timbaland).

I'll give him that. I just wish he used a less... good song. At least it may gain some recognition.

But in the case of Rihanna, if you're not good without overusing sampling, don't be an artist. I'll stand by that.

It's going to suck either way.

Anyways, if you are visiting LA, a couple of tips:

    1. Avoid East LA unless you absolutely need to go there. Same goes for Compton.
    2. You must visit Amoeba, best music store ever.
    3. For lunch I would recommend going to Philiipe's for a french dipped sandwich or Pink's for their hot dogs, a lot of stars eat there.
    4. Don't be surprised when you see how bad the traffic is.
    5. If you are a fan of either the Celtics, Yankees, or Giants, do not mention it. At all.
I don't think it's LA itself, more just how it's perceived. I'm probably letting stereotypes get to me before I even see it for myself, which isn't at all like me.

As for the traffic, yeah, I've been to New York, so I'm definitely prepared for bad traffic.

Don't mind if he ruins bad music, don't want him touching good stuff, though. Either way, if he's sampling for use in another song, it's more about how it's incorporated than the song that's incorporated.

    I'm inclined to agree.

Also, I visited Amoeba in San Franciso, and I can vouch that it is the greatest record store in existence.

    Good job.

The new Harvey Milk album has been getting a lot of iPod coverage from me... strong contender for album of the year.
Not removing this until we get some Sunn O)))
in which case this will be on for a while.
