    I listened to a song, I didn't think it was too bad. Although if the rest of their discography is of the same quality I put them as an average band.

    RO:Hype/popularity shouldn't affect how much someone likes a band.

    that's one advantage to listening to music before it's officially released...
    you get a pure listen or two in before you can possibly know what the critics/blogs/drooling masses are going to think.

    i also like deciding what songs i like before the band/record company chooses singles... (not that those songs that become singles are the only ones i'd listen to after the fact)
