You have to buy the radio thing for in the car, then a subscription. I wouldn't know how much XM's gear is though, my family's on Sirius.

I imagine it's sort of like comcast cable, where you need one cable box for every TV you want to use. Seems interesting, I actually despise pretty much all my local radio stations. The only one that's worth listening to anymore is the Classical station, and occasionally the classic rock station (they play some unorthodox choices every once in awhile). My local spoon-fed rock station is just awful though, in ways you can't imagine.

No. I think it's under $30 for a year, but I could be wrong.
Which is, I take it, why you don't like Alt Nation (the music there sucks, too) or 1st Wave - the dreaded Madison. And I like NPR's news. I learned to love it during my excursions through Northern Idaho.
