You know, when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s you could call MK1 and MK2 Deep Purple or even stuff like BOC or Lizzy heavy metal and no one would ever challenge you. Lately I've been feeling kind've sad that people want to wad their panties up and vomit their ill-formed dumb**** opinions about what-is-or-isn't heavy metal because it's not from the NWOBHM or thrash metal lineage of metal bands.

I have no problems calling any of those groups metal, my parents would call them metal as well, and definitely no problem calling Deep Purple metal

Also, I am guessing this has to do with your new Metal setlist?

what's funny is, i met this kid in 3rd grade in religious ed., and he was a HUGE korn fan, by 8th grade, he was purely a classic rock guy, and 2-3 years later, he had a hardon for the strokes and stuff like the killers and ****

he's a really good guitarist though
