Dream Theater is one of the most overrated bands to ever exist.
Despite all my rage, I'm still just Nicolas Cage
Led Zeppelin
AC/DC
Hell, what about new bands like Tool and A7X? If DT was so overrated, why don't I hear about them all the time on the radio or MTV or TV in general?
Overrated? Maybe.
Most overrated band to ever exist? They don't even come close to being anywhere near there.
Rust in Peace for Full Album DLC - Never Forget
Pet Sounds for Full Album DLC
They get hailed as pretty much the epitome of Prog Metal, yet what is considered by many to be their magnum opus (Awake) was more snore inducing than anything else that came before.
The first album was decent, but was mostly pure Rush worship.
Despite all my rage, I'm still just Nicolas Cage
Maybe it's just the stuff I've heard, but Dream Theater to me seems like they just take the compositional conventions of classical music, and shoe-horn it into typical pop music vere-chorus structure, while completely ignoring the last few centuries of musical progress to come out of jazz and blues influence.
We were once so close to heaven
Peter came out and gave us medals
Declaring us the nicest of the damned
Not to bash Dream Theater fans, but my friend is one of them. It seems that most people that listen to Dream Theater think they are elite because they understand how complex their playing style is. I enjoy Dream Theater but to say they're the most talented band ever is a little over the top.
Bands Wishlist :
Muse [x] (more)
The Raconteurs []
Black Keys []
Radiohead [x] (ok computer?)
I would agree with Dream Theater being overrated.
Remember zeppelin1969!
Yeah! Gentle Giant
My personnal fav song is Knots. But live they can't do it. Only the singer has a good voice so it sounds bad live.
A good song live, though, is advent of panurge. Record solo rules.

It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.
People seem to go by others opinions way too often.
