    I've read 3 mini-series and they all take place before events of TPM...way too huge.

    Yeah, there are tons and tons of novels, not to mention comics and games. I've enjoyed all of the ones I've read, though.

    Star Wars fans, however, are impossible. Textbook definition of an unpleasable fanbase.

    You mean Star Trek fans or the series itself? I've never seen an episode of trek. It really doesn't seem interesting to me, but I've been wrong before. Not sure I want to dive into it, though... got tons of other crap on my plate at the moment.

    Although I gotta say, if you read anything that isn't written by Frank Herbert (the first 6 novels), you're going to be utterly disappointed/angry. They're not well written after his books.
