My first reaction to it was a mix of confusion, excitement and disappointment. However I've listened to it a few more times and it's not too shabby, better than Elements but distinctly average compared to Unquestionable Presence and Piece of Time -- the rhythm section; the integral part of Atheist was a let-down, the bass was nowhere near as prominent as on every other album they've done and the drums sounded weak and triggered.

Having said that the band is still extremely tight and having them back together is a good thing in and of itself -- I feel that if they release another album they will go further in the direction of straight tech-death as opposed to jazz-tech.

I disagree with the notion that its "It's deeper and more rich, the band has expanded and improved." It's the least progressive of all their albums and has the most sterile production.

It reminds me a lot of Suffocation's post-reunion material -- you can tell it's the same band but they seem to have lost that little something indescribable.

I need to give the album more listens, but this pretty much describes my feelings on it after the initial listen.

On a gaming laptop that only holds 500Gb....not nearly enough room left.
