The author is obviously just a fan of Bieber/Eminem who got pissed when their favorite artists didn't win.

My thoughts too. I guess this guy was just important enough to get his Facebook status complaint reported by the BBC.

If I were the head of the Grammys Committe and I saw this article, I'd push the envelope on being out of touch with pop culture. And then with that, you'd be seeing a Black Metal album among the Album of the Year choices. The way the press would be b******* about that would be hilarious.
Bands I'd love to see as DLC for Rock Band:

    Bathory []
    Bal Sagoth []
    Amorphis []
    Emperor [X]
    Enslaved []

that article brings up some truly laughable point, but the argument the Music Exec is making isn't totally unfounded or unfair. Using big names to draw in viewers only to not have them win any awards. (not that even care in the slightest, but still). He's got a case as far as that goes, but to then cite Justin Bieber as a cultural generation landmark is silly.

The grammy's have been out of touch for years. In my opinion it was out of touch when it awarded Jethro Tull the heavy metal award over Metallica.
