I don't mind Call of Duty as a way to kill some time when the games get released, but I can't get into it much beyond that. I didn't even play the multi-player on the last game, just borrowed my brother's copy and went through the campaign.

I actually prefer the single player to COD over the multiplayer. I never could get into most online games, though I've been playing a decent bit of online Mortal Kombat lately.

While scores for FPSs are fairly high, a lot of these magazines also tend to award high scores to story-driven games as well. I might disagree with a lot of scoring, but high scores generally tend to be a great barometer for determining what games I will and won't like. I can't say the same of any music publication or critic.

Been watching Memphis Hates You 3 festival all night. Gypsyhawk is next. Dirty Streets atm. Check it out. Might not work in Firefox. Chrome or IE best.

I think I really, really need someone to explain all the hype about Daydream Nation to me. I haven't heard it in a while, and I'm nearly done listening again, and I still don't see all the insane praise it gets. Maybe it's because I'm not overly familiar with the noise genre (nor am I particularly fond of it), and I don't know it's influence and stuff, but I just don't hear it. I've listened a good 5 or 6 times, but I just don't get it.

Don't get me wrong, it's a very good album, but it just gets so much praise that I always feel a little disappointed, or like I'm missing something every time I hear it. I mean p4k gave it the #1 album of the 80's. (lol p4k, I know, but still). What's all the hub bub about?

It's about as perfect as Alternative gets outside of Doolittle.

On reviewers: Yeah, no question music critics are as bad as it gets. I really don't like critics in general, though film critics and literature critics tend to have a bit more of an idea of what they are talking about. Still, I occasionally feel like I'll vomit if I even read Roger Ebert's name.

On Daydream Nation: Well, it's hard to tell you "this is exactly why you're not liking the album". If it doesn't click even after awhile, it doesn't click. Sonic Youth isn't exactly music I can get emotionally invested into, like I can with some other alternative acts (The Replacements, The Smiths, etc.), but they were damn good at what they did.

Daydream Nation is almost the Velvet Underground & Nico of the 80's. Not for everybody, but pretty much at the peak of its genre. The best advice I can give is to ignore the hype... and that goes for pretty much everything.

I either have a stomach virus or the guy I buy my corn and potatoes from is waging some really nasty biological warfare on me.

They say stuff like cancer and AIDS are amongst the most extreme internal suffering, but how can it get worse than this?
