In regards to that list, while I like a decent amount of them, it is obvious that it was compiled by teenagers that voted on what they thought was supposed to be good, not what is good.
A lot of J-rock(not complaining, merely some of the choices) and a helluva lotta boring cliche'd classics....meh.

More love? It's probably 'the most loved' form of progressive rock, in terms of popularity and record sales. Zeuhl and RIO are prog genres that need more love.

All I'm saying is that I hear nothing but hate for symphonic prog...nfi what RIO even is, and Japanese Zeuhl is great.

A lot of prog fans seem to be soured on symphonic prog (and crossover prog) specifically because they are popular. There's a fair bit of hate floating around for the new Phideaux and Wobbler albums because people say they're just emulating ELP and Yes respectively (which seems to be overly simplifying things - they're revivalists, but not imitators). There is a pretty strong undercurrent in prog circles of "if it's not avant, why bother?" anymore... to the point of if you sound like anyone from the past, then you're somehow not progressive.

But I agree on zeuhl and RIO/avant-prog, even though there aren't many good zeuhl bands around anymore outside of Japan (apart from Magma, Xing Sa, and Universal Totem Orchestra).

Anytime revivalism is perceived as a trend there will be a certain crowd who will **** on it. Happens a lot with metal and hard rock.

Exactly. There's a difference between revivalism and cloning that people fail to pick up on.

To use my previous example, Wobbler would be revivalism, Kaipa would be a clone. Although, considering how long Kaipa's been around, maybe they're still one of the originals - of course, only one of the guys from the original 70s incarnation is still around, the rest joined on in the 90s (and the subsequent spinoffs from Kaipa's original guitarist tend to open up the debate all over again).
