This is cool. If you have about ten minutes, get stoked on the video (made by Microsoft), then let the blogger rip it apart. Both sides of the argument are very interesting.

RO: I don't like that some of the music I listen too isn't known by most people. Not in a "this should be more popular sense" way, but rather a "this music isn't widely known and can't hold up much in conversation with the average folk" way.

If you guys just went around saying "OH, YOU'VE PROBABLY NEVER HEARD OF THEM" and getting used to blank stares, it would be a lot easier.

I feel the greatest cringe within my body when people haven't heard of some of the most obvious artists. We live in the peak of the internet era and it still feels like 99% of the world is still willing to get music from the radio. Even when I am the one who tries to fit in, half of the time, the music is painful to sit through.

I encourage the world to listen to unpopular artists. I feel no delight in having obscure knowledge.

They'd listen to the same music if there was no radio.

I do, mostly out of enjoying sharing my knowledge.

when people say this to me, I smile like I'm dealing with a little kid. I think lower of them, but they'll never know that
