To be honest, though I've listened to tons of glam rock, beyond Bowie I haven't seen too many performances... and, to be perfectly honest (probably belongs in the UO thread), as great as Bowie is, his various outfits have never really done anything for me. I suppose his constantly changing image, though, went along with his change in musical style.

Iggy Pop and Peter Murphy certainly had the virtue of being unique, too. I suppose you could say I love rock music, but hate the rockstar image... or, at least, the stereotyped one. I wouldn't really put a lot of the glam rockers in that category, because their images were far from cliche.

David Bowie used to flirt (perhaps that's putting it a little lightly; if you watch the movie Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture David eye****s and hand****s the everloving **** out of everyone in his band) with Mick Ronson in the middle of concerts as part of his act, but that was part of the whole rock n' roll attitude. I don't think Chris should be faulted for being flamboyant on-stage.
It just strikes me as incredibly fake.
Despite all my rage, I'm still just Nicolas Cage

Yeah, I think this is the big difference between Cornell's antics and those of Bowie, Iggy Pop, etc. Whereas the latter always (or at least, always wanted to) had the stage persona, Cornell only developed his persona after he became a bigger name. While there's nothing inherently "bad" about ripping your shirt off on stage, it should appear to be sincere, and Cornell's shirt-destroying doesn't strike me as sincere.

Wait, all of this over Chris Cornell ripping his shirt like Hulk Hogan? What happens Chris Cornell realizes what other notorious artists did in the 1990's and starts burning churches?

It's a shame about the other DLC, though.

If one does not understand, comprehend and broaden his scope; then he stays a generic unknowing man who does not understand what his peers do.

I like all of the bands you linked, I really do; but a combination of you dismissing a style and the way I imagined the attitude was presented just set me off. I apologize if I sound antagonistic, but I can't stand musical ignorance and assumptive pretensions.
I wasn't trying to say that Indie Rock is just this giant section of music that I won't touch. To be completely honest I probably haven't explored it enough to really know. It just seems like anytime I start to listen and explore some indie bands that they seem to not be the type of thing I would like. I will admit the only indie bands I have really looked into though are the more popular ones. That's a paradox if I ever heard one.
