How do you listen to music?

I am curious as to how others here listen to music. Feel free to add what ever you want, but here are some questions to spur the discussion:

Do you use headphones or speakers?

Is you source a computer/mp3 player or a stand-a-lone stereo?

What is your most common source? (digital, CD, vinyl, radio, youtube?, etc)

Do you usually completely listen to the music, or is it on in the background as you do other things?

If you do have dedicated listening time, how much time do you spend just listening to music?

Do you listen with your eyes open or closed?

Do you usually listen to a full album or random singles?

Do you sit or lie down when listening?

All I can think of right now.

i'm afraid every single one of those varies for me.

i typically have music on 100% of the time, except sometimes i can only sleep if i turn it off.

i used to spend much more time "just listening" than i do now, but i still try to take some time where i'll lay down and listen either with my eyes closed or looking outside (though my current home doesn't offer much in the way of a view).

i typically listen to albums, though i do go through periods where i like to either make my own mixes or abuse the shuffle button.

I turn the lights off in my room, turn on VH1 or VH1 classic, turn the volume down to thirty, and spin around in my office chair while listening to my iPod. Eyes open, and listen to it however long the playlist is.

And now I seem just a little weirder...

I usually listen to full albums while doing other things. I don't have dedicated listening time anymore. It's usually iPod in the kitchen (through speakers), iPod in the car (decent system), iMac while at work, and living room stereo to dance with my son. Headphones are the exception.

I prefer speakers over head-phones, but when it's neccesary (? on spelling) I use them.

All three, but usually a computer.

CDs and digital are my two main, but I do use YouTube occasionally if I don't have some ****. Trying to get vinyls currently.

Kinda depends, but it never technically is in the background. I listen to it all the time, including video games, computer, (sometimes) T.V., homework, everything, but when I do listen to it, I usually focus on it the same if not more than the other thing I'm doing, so, like I said, it depends. Sometimes I do just sit and listen to music, though.

My dedicated time is 24/7. Music IS my life.

Usually eyes open, but I do listen with eyes closed sometimes. Especially when I'm just listening to music.

Always ALWAYS records. If I don't have any real records, I'll listen to a compilation, but I prefer actual records.

If I'm doing something else too, 90% of the time I'm sitting and not lying down. If it's just music, then it's fifty-fifty.

That's weird, man, 'cause a week or so ago, I went into the basement, popped my 1969 Woodstock Gypsy Sun and Rainbows (Hendrix Experience with some extra/different people) CD into the player, and sat in a spinny chair, closed my eyes, and spun.

Depends on whether it's appropriate to blast at full volume through the house.

Is you source a computer/mp3 player or a stand-a-lone stereo?
    Varies.

What is your most common source? (digital, CD, vinyl, radio, youtube?, etc)
    Just about anything.

Do you usually completely listen to the music, or is it on in the background as you do other things?
    Varies.

If you do have dedicated listening time, how much time do you spend just listening to music?
If I have the time, 3-7 hours.

Do you listen with your eyes open or closed?
    Depends on the song/music.

Do you usually listen to a full album or random singles?
    Varies.

Do you sit or lie down when listening?
    Again, varies.

I usually listen to my MP3 player on my room at night or on the bus at the butt-crack of dawn (6 A.M.).

Do you use headphones or speakers?I tend to listen to my music on the speakers. Usually away from home I'll plug in headphones(or lately ear buds).

Is you source a computer/mp3 player or a stand-a-lone stereo? My music set up consist of the following. A cell phone that can store around 1.7 gigabytes of music, computer hooked to my sister's old stereo, or the tape/CD/ vinyl player.

What is your most common source? (digital, CD, vinyl, radio, youtube?, etc)My most common source would digital.

Do you usually completely listen to the music, or is it on in the background as you do other things? It usually on in the background although I usually focusing on that while I'm doing other work.

If you do have dedicated listening time, how much time do you spend just listening to music? No time, I really should set aside some time though.(It would really help me appreciate the Sonic Youth albums I have).

Do you listen with your eyes open or closed? Mainly I listen to music with my eyes closed.

Do you usually listen to a full album or random singles? Albums 90 percent of the time, the other 10 percent is with last fm radio or sometimes a random 24 hour long playlist.

Do you sit or lie down when listening? I tend to sit

Preferably speakers (nothing beats a good turntable setup) but headphones when appropriate (out of the house, don't want to disturb anyone, etc.)

Is you source a computer/mp3 player or a stand-a-lone stereo?

Preferably stand-alone stereo, but I do use a computer/mp3 player with high-quality mp3s from time to time. If it's on a stereo, I usually run it on mute on the computer so last.fm recognizes it.

What is your most common source? (digital, CD, vinyl, radio, youtube?, etc)

My most common source is CDs and occasionally high quality mp3s, but I vastly prefer records.

Do you usually completely listen to the music, or is it on in the background as you do other things?

I'm too busy to just listen to music for hours on end, but I try to listen to one album in its entirety a day without distractions.

If you do have dedicated listening time, how much time do you spend just listening to music?

Depending on the album and my amount of free time, anywhere from 20 to 80 minutes a day.

Do you listen with your eyes open or closed?

Open, if they're closed I'll probably fall asleep. I leaf through the album art while I'm listening.

Do you usually listen to a full album or random singles?

Full albums, with almost no exceptions.

Do you sit or lie down when listening?

Sit when doing something else, lie down when I'm just listening.

All I can think of right now.

    Really cool topic.
Would you pay for music by Beck?
    Maybe.
What if you heard he owned a plane made of gold?
    Sure.
Good, because he needs the money.
