Yeah, how dare they.
Speculative thread is full of speculation...
I'll wait for the official announcements, but it is simple for me...
When this game comes out, if it is not exportable/importable or there is not an official statement indicating that they intend to do it for RB3, I will not buy it... at least until the price drops big time as they pile up in Game Stop (a la GH:Aerosmith and even GH:Metallica already).
A single band game will have limited replay value by virtue of a singular focus (yes, even The Beatles) and making exceptions to the platform is a violation of HMX's stated intention and would reduce the trust I have in HMX to produce a great product and do the right thing for the customer.
I would also like just one person to explain why having the Beatles NOT import/export is a good idea for Apple, The Beatles and their legacy, or HMX. Even if people just buy the game to export, people will be experiencing The Beatles music and the game will expose a lot of people to their music while also allowing them to enjoy it in a new way. Also, if a one-time use export code is placed on the game, it will immediately drop the resale value of a used Beatles game, reducing competition by used sellers and likely boosting sales of the original title (increasing profit for the publisher, HMX, Apple, and whoever else is getting paid). Finally, if an export is allowed, some people who may not be crazy about the Beatles will be more likely to buy the game so that they can get the few Beatles songs they do like to play alongside the rest of their music... which can only boost sales as well.
The only argument I've heard that The Beatles game should NOT export is because the Beatles "deserve their own game." What exactly does that mean? They will have their own game and a place to play their content (and likely their content alone). If the game is so great, people will experience the Beatles in the game as it was intended and will enjoy it until they get sick of that experience. Normally, people's interaction with the Beatles music and game would end there. An export would then allow that same music to continue to be enjoyed alongside the other great bands in this game. As a Beatles fan or anyone concerned about their legacy, how could it possibly be bad that people be allowed to continue playing their music as long as HMX keeps producing RB games/content?

You know, this whole "platform" issue and "song exportability" discussion is growing old on me. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather just wait for the yes or no from HMX. People will buy it if they really want to play it regardess of the song exportability.
On another note, Guitar Hero 5's release date is on September 1st. How dare they?!![]()

No way did HMX announce that all RB1 songs would work in RB2 off the bat. Not a chance. DLC? Yes. RB1 songs? No.
After a loud uproar from the community, they realized how important exportability was to the RB fans and confirmed the transfer patch.
Couple with the fact that HMX has openly changed their position from "no" to "no comment", I actually expect the songs to be exportable.
I think the community has won (once again) and I hope we hear the good news at E3.
