The Beatles: ROCK BAND - Rumors and Facts

Okay, can someone show proof as to when Harmonix said originally this game wasn't going to have Rock Band in the title, because I'm almost certain that when this game was announced they said it was going to be called The Beatles: Rock Band, but even with the RB name there it will stray away from the normal mechanics of the franchise.

I hear a lot of people defending this, but I've never seen it. It was titled Rock Band since it's announcement.

It appeared in a large number of articles about the game when it was first announced. Here's just one of them, and the quote that mentions specifically that it was not to be a Rock Band named game initially...

While I would like to be able to export the game to RB, I'm not really worried about it. I fully expect that it won't export, and I can understand why - it's not really up to HMX. There are others involved with this, and I'm pretty amazed we even have the game coming out. There have been lawsuits and disagreements for years regarding various issues. Wouldn't take much to have the Beatles, Apple, etc. want to avoid the export.

As somebody who has listened to The Beatles since the 60s, I'm not the least bit concerned about playing a single band. The Beatles sound changed so much over their career, that it's not like you're playing the same single song type over and over again. Having DLC for the game would be a really nice bonus though. It would keep the game interesting, and definitely will up the interest for some people who don't see some favorite songs on the initial set list.

The Beatles/Apple Corps Ltd would not have agreed to this deal knowing their music was going to be tossed into the mix. Surely this makes sense, knowing how hard it's been for anyone to obtain rights to any song from The Beatles.

I agree that this was the case at the beginning of the project, but things have changed. All you have to do to see this is look at HMX's responses to the exportable question. It's gone from no to no comment.

I'm sorry. I know it's my opinion, but I don't want someone else's songs in TB:RB. With all the work and reported new features, it just doesn't make sense that it would be compatible anyway. And I think that it takes away from what HMX and Apple Corps envisioned for the game.

Simple solution: if there is an export/import feature, don't use it.

There's no official comment on this issue. Posts like this will confuse people who haven't done their reading.

No, there's no reason to think that it's RB3, or even RB2.5. It's a standalone game. Get over it.
