I'm Batman.
Army of Darkness - My favorite movie in the Evil Dead trilogy. I'm not going to even rate it.
FUS RO DAH!!
Love for Life - Chinese film that is one of the first, if not the first (memory serving) that depicted AIDs in China and the blood merchant crap that happened. Cheesy English title notwithstanding, its a crushing film and, I daresay, a love story that guys can like too. Features two actors not well liked here in China--Guo Fucheng and Zhang Ziyi. The latter you probably know from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero, and Maxim magazine. They really bring together strong chemistry in the film. The AIDs theme and the effect it had on Chinese villages is what makes this film powerful.

Paisą (Paisan)
Finally got around to the second part of Rossellini's war trilogy. Since the last film is much shorter than the other two, it will hopefully be easier for me to find time to watch it.
Split into six unconnected (in terms of characters) parts, Paisą is a rather thorough telling of World War II's impact throughout Italy. It plays out basically like six short films, with only a newsreel-style narrative linking the parts together. Each part of the film offers both subtle and overt commentary on the nature of war, which Rossellini executes perfectly. Episode 5 was probably my favorite, though they are all well-done. It's interesting that Rossellini depicts religious characters (particularly priests) positively in both this film and Roma, cittą aperta, given that he was an atheist. Paisą may work better as a "war film" than the first film in the trilogy (since the war is a more central theme in this movie, whereas it served as a backdrop in the first), but Roma, cittą aperta is the better of the two films. It's hard for any one performance to stand out given the nature of this film, but every actor (both professional and non-professional) do a solid job. Humor is used about as well as it could be in a film that's, at its core, tragic, and a lot of it comes from the language barrier between Italians and American/British troops. As an Italian major (and an okay speaker of the language), I loved that aspect of the film. Rossellini does like to end his films with executions, it seems.

Redline (2009 anime film)
I don't even like anime much and I thought this was a pretty wonderful film. Beautiful animation, colorful characters with likable personalities, and racing scenes that'll burn your eyebrows off! The only thing I didn't like so much was the ending, but the film was still a blast to watch
The piles or praise it received hyped it up too much. Sure, it's a weird outcome, but it could be seen long before the unveiling. I really didn't see what other people apparently saw in it.
