State of Play - Big dopey fun summer popcorn flick. I got it for $5 at a Blockbuster store that was closing. I'd say it's worth five bucks.

journey 2

- no its not about the popular band. it was a really bad movie but my kid was entertained and happy so i'm ok with. the rock seems to get worse and worse at acting and even michael cain was really bad in this.

prometheus

- fun movie. i didn't read any of the reviews but i heard it was bad. it had it's issues here a there but nothing detracting from the thrill ride. it was pretty straight forward and entertaining.

Prometheus. I don't know what to say, it was very excellent. It's cool how it's like an Alien prequel, but it isn't, you know? Very great visual effects, especially the surgery sequence and the whole pyramid.

9/10 from me.

Jodhaa Akbar - 3.5 hour romance story from Bollywood. Islamic emporer Akbar the Great marries local Hindu princess for political reasons. It's not a bad movie, I was surprised at how good it was in fact. It just took 3.5 hours to tell it's story. If it had been more historically accurate, I wouldn't have minded the length as much. There are some excellent music sequences.

Stir of Echoes - I first saw this movie when visiting a friend in California some years ago. We all decided to rent a video to kill a little time or something. Her demented friends all wanted some gory, bloody, splatter horror piece of crap, while Laura (that's my friend) and I were decidedly against that. We compromised on this edgy psychological thriller.

I just found the DVD again among a bunch of my stuff, I had forgotten I had it. Great movie, I recommend it.

Prometheus

Entertaining, but very badly executed in terms of narrative. There were some amazing scenes, some good characters but overall those pieces did not tie in together. Too many conflicts, too many characters, too many answers.
