    Skyfall.

Great movie, visuals, villain, and ending. It's funny too.

Are they gonna bring back Felix Leiter from Casino Royale? I can't remember if he was in Quantum or not.

I agree with this message. This was one of the most artfully conscious Bonds I've ever witnessed.

saw the new Spiderman for first time. Interesting how they focused on how he developed his abilities, but the latter parts of the movie were underwhelming. Flow of the story felt disconnected, and the score was terrible.

Sam Raimi's (sp?) version is better.

He was in Quantum of Solace (they promoted him inside the CIA), but there's little more than an oblique reference to "friends in the CIA" in Skyfall. I would presume that for the Craig continuity, they may bring Jeffrey Wright back if they need him; they've been pretty good in maintaining character continuity (the fact that they had one guy play Leiter twice in a row is more than any other Bond movie was able to manage).

    Good Bye Lenin!

German film (with an English language title) that is easily my favorite take on the whole "what happens when someone wakes up from a coma" trope. It does a very nice job walking the fine line between drama and comedy, and it tells an interesting story. It is slightly weaker at the end when compared to the rest of the film, and the score varies from being serviceable to grating, but overall, it's a very solid film.

    Total Recall (2012) - 4/10

The special effects are pretty impressive, but it lacks everything else an action movie needs. Meh-tastic at best.

    Buried

I took a flier on this one on Netflix knowing nothing beyond the basic concept. There's some great claustrophobic suspense, and Ryan Reynolds is an underrated actor (as an aside -- I don't think I've ever before seen a feature film where only one person was ever on screen), but I have to say I disagreed with just about every production choice. I'm a big fan of minimalistic cinema, but for a movie about a guy buried alive, and as I said he's the only person ever on screen, this is not a minimalistic production. It tries way too hard. And the political angle wasn't exactly fresh, either. Did anyone need a Ryan Reynolds movie to tell them that there are no good guys in war? It's no coincidence that the movie is for no pressing reason set in 2006 despite being produced in 2010. I didn't feel that it added a damn thing.

I made the mistake of trying out The Messenger (the 2009 one with Ben Foster) during a healthy drinking session at home. That movie will sober up someone real fast, but dont let that take away from its quality. Great performances from Foster and Woody Harrelson

Looper finally opened up here last week, and I got a chance to watch it last night.

Hot damn, that's an awesome movie. Solid A, extremely entertaining and provocative. JGL keeps on getting more and more awesome, and Bruce Willis kicks some serious ass. Rian Johnson also knows how to keep things visually inventive (by using inventive camera tricks, or the complete opposite of that) and write with enough flair that things sound both witty but mundane. I think The Brothers Bloom is still my favorite of his three movies so far but Looper is up there for certain.

EDIT: Also, I award this movie the "best use of frog beeper" accolade. Just because.
