Totally with you on the f*** 3D and having no desire to watch Avatar ever!
I agree with this too. It is a "good" movie. It's still a visual marvel even in 2D. And while the story is remarkably pat, I get the sense the sequels won't be. Avatar was a pretty massive financial risk - $250 million budget. New IP (strictly speaking), pioneering 3D technology, not a terribly star-studded cast (biggest stars are either in supporting roles or are voice only), it sort of makes sense that Cameron would hedge his bet somewhere.
I believe that's what started this subthread. How to Train Your Dragon was one. Obviously we've been discussing Avatar, which I'm not surprised is a little contentious. Somebody had a couple other examples.

WWW hates 3D so much he gouged out one of his own eyes so he doesn't have to see it everyday.
I think Avatar is only worth seeing for the 3D.
I think Piranha 3D is the pinnacle of 3D.
