So in the past week I've watched 8 movies, and since I've been pestering my Twitter followers with my thoughts on all of them, I might as well share some quick thoughts here. Ranked from favorite to least favorite, since ranking things is as much fun as watching the things that I rank.
Rosemary's Baby - A true masterpiece. It's baffling that a horror movie as amazing as this isn't scary, but god damn is it a great movie. Excellent build up to an even better payoff. Even though I'm not religious, the ending still really creeps me out. Definitely one of my favorite movies of all time. Masterpiece/10
The Blair Witch Project - I keep trying to decide whether or not I consider this a horror classic or just a very strong entry in the horror genre. Either way, it's the first time I've been legitimately scared by anything in a long long time, so that counts for something. It's just a pure shot of adrenaline and horror. Amazing/10
Ratatouille - Pixar. That's all that needs to be said. Amazing/10
Exorcist III - The hammy acting and silly moments don't detract as much as I thought it would, and although it isn't as great as the original Exorcist (which sits proudly as my favorite not scary horror movie), it retains the same atmosphere and it held my interest throughout. Great/10
V/H/S - Inconsistent tone mixed with distracting silliness took away from what could have been a great horror movie. Seriously, when the movie tries to be realistic it works, but then something really stupid happens and then I'm just baffled at their persistence to ruin the atmosphere. Nevertheless, the Emily short was freaking fantastic. Decent/10
Ranking of shorts: The Sick Thing That Happened To Emily When She Was Younger > Second Honeymoon > 10/31/98 > Amateur Night > Tuesday the 17th
Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows - Completely terrible in every conceivable level. This movie is pure and utter garbage. However, the reason why I like it more than the next two is because even though it's bad... well, it's not boring. The movie is kinda dorky and enjoyable in its own weird little way. Poo/10
When A Stranger Calls - A decently strong hook that just proves that some short stories are left stories instead of adapting them to movies. The rest of the movie was just pretty damn boring. Boring/10
Total Recall (2012) - No wonder anyone who has seen this movie only talks about the chick with three boobs. That's the only thing memorable about this snoozefest. What a boring waste of time. Zzzzzz/10
