Defiance (2008) - Was really excited for this when I first saw the previews, so even though there were 5 movies in theaters that I wanted to watch this weekend, this was the first that was checked off. While it didn't live up to the hype I created for it, it was still solid. The story is solid, Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, and Mia Wasikowska (who will be Alice in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland) were all great, even with the forced russian accents. The story was emotional and the action scenes sounded amazing. 8/10

Frost/Nixon (2008) - Amazing film. Was surprised how blown away I was by it. Frank Langella is by no means a front runner for the Oscar, but if he somehow manages to win, I don't think a single person will be upset about it. The supporting cast of Oliver Platt, Sam Rockwell, and yes, even the Bacon all play their roles beautifully. It also gives a lot of insight at the behind the scenes of what David Frost went through. Having seen the interviews before seeing the movie, the movie really makes you appreciate everything the people behind the interviews went through to get them made. Highly recommend. 10/10

I've also been watching Extras on DVD. Ricky Gervais is a genius. Nuff said.

We rented The Rocker tonight (mostly due to my enormous crush on Chistina Applegate ), and it turned out to be NOT a completely waste of time. Surprising!

    Between this and Hamlet 2, we're 2 for 2.

I've watched the first 4 episodes of Band of Brothers on Blu-ray. I'm working on the rest this week, between midterms and work. So far, the image and audio quality have been incredible. With DTS-Master Audio, it really sounds like you're in the battles, and thanks to living alone, I can REALLY crank the system up without bothering anybody. There's just no other way to watch this miniseries

Slumdog Millionaire (2008) - It takes a lot for a movie to crack my Top 50 of All-Time list after the first viewing, but Slumdog achieved this with ease. The story literally gave me goosebumps on more than one occasion and the cast performs together beautifully. Not to mention one of the best scores to a movie I have heard in years. While I'm still rooting for Fincher for Best Director, I'm no longer going to be disappointed if Danny wins. 10/10

Revolutionary Road (2008) - Let's just say this, if you're planning on taking a date/spouse/loved one to see this movie.....don't. I went on Saturday afternoon, and it was me (24-year old single male), 2 younger couples, an older couple, and about 6 middle aged women in the theater. At the end of the movie as everyone was walking out, I don't think a word was spoken by anyone. The couples walked out in dead silence afraid to make eye contact. Absolutely powerful performances by Kate, Leo, and even Oscar Nom Michael Shannon (Personally, Leo stuck out for me most). While the story may be depressing and slow, it makes you take a hard look at your life and where you are, as opposed to where you want to be. Prepare to be punched in the stomach. 7/10

The Wrestler (2008) - Everyone can acknowledge Rourke's performance (as it was brilliant), but even as big of a fan that I am of Darren Aronofsky, he still manages to blow me away on a regular basis. The mood created by Aronofsky throughout this film is what makes you want to cheer for Mickey's character. If you don't at least get a little flushed and teared up at the end speech, you need to check your heart! 8/10

I thought Slumdog was majorly overrated and didn't even finish it and I have a deep respect for movie making.

Perhaps I was just too tired to care or something it missed the mark.
