    The Game - 9/10

A psychological thriller, similar to Inception or Shutter Island. Makes you think outside of the box, the obvious is never the answer and can sometimes leave you completely mindf***ed. Masterful performance by Mr. Michael Douglas. He played this role perfectly. Any fans of abstract movies should check this one out.

I haven't seen that one in years, but Ray Liotta gives the performance of his life there. I was going to watch it a few weeks ago on TV, but I didn't have 3 hours (4 with commercials) to spend watching it.

Man. I wanted to get into Hou Hsiao-Hsien, but I'm not sure if I want to any more. Not a fan of period pieces to begin with, but this one is so slow and inconsequential I could hardly stand it. Partner that with the culture gap and I was just waiting for it to end. It's all so stagey, too; hardly filmic. The characters... so flat and unsympathetic. Most of the time they just around the room and discuss the happenings of over characters.

    Boring.

Eisenstein is very interesting to study, but trying to enjoy his movies is like trying to warm up to a spark when you got the whole fire it started.
It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.

Oh definitely. We had a discussion about The Game, as well as other Fincher movies earlier on in this thread. What makes The Game stand out for me is that even though I know all the twists and turns in the movie, I still enjoy watching it over and over again. It's like Se7en, Fight Club, Usual Suspects, American Beauty, etc. Movies that are still great to watch even though you know all the twists and surprises.

I see that in the PSN Store, they have "The Game" available in HD for rent only. The SD version can be rented or purchased. Kind of upset that we can't buy the HD version of "The Game." Stupid greedy movie studios.

Actually it's 2 and a half hours so with commercials it would be 3 hours. Just please don't watch it on AMC; "Go get your freaking shine box!"

AMC: Story matter here, which is why we edit all the movies shown for content. What a lameass channel.

they have the regular old edited version like all other cable outlets. stuff they make on their own: breaking bad, mad men, walking dead etc etc, have plenty of cursing.

Then they should grow a pair and show unedited versions.

or you could just watch it on dvd/BD and not have to worry about edited versions of movies on cable.
