Cloverfield - 5.5/10
Meh movie, but that camera has got some killer durability and battery life to make it through an alien invasion, a helicopter crash, getting set on fire, and surviving various falls. Definitely not American made.

Rudd and Segel make an awesome team, with near flawless casting for the supporting roles.

Black Swan and The Wrestler both made my top ten for their respective years.
Clash by Night - Solid melodrama directed by Fritz Lang and starring the great Barbara Stanwyck and the equally awesome Robert Ryan with Marilyn Monroe in a small supporting part. Considered to be Film Noir in some circles, I have no idea why. Double Indemnity it ain't, no one even dies.
Thor
It's briskly told, but it feels slight and inconsequential. It's a combination of underdeveloped characters, overuse of CGI and a story that involves gods. When you're dealing with gods, the conflict usually fails to reveal character, as just about anything is possible. It's an ok flick.
My Week WIth Marilyn
Biopics are probably the only genre I have a problem with, and it's films like this that make me dislike them. As good as William's and Branagh's respective impersonations are, there isn't a lot more than that to praise. The story favors off set stuff between some 3rd AD and Monroe over the more interesting shooting of the film, and the entire supporting cast is completely useless. Boring.
REC - 9/10
Pretty much Quarantine to the T therefore it was very good.
REC 2 - 7/10
Didn't really care for the direction the plot took in this one with the whole demon thing. It would have liked it more if they just kept it as an infection and left it at that. Nice little twist at the end though.

Speaking of little character development, I saw Battle: Los Angeles a week ago.
Then again, Aaron Eckhart did a couple interviews saying that it was just a good action flick chronicaling how marines would react if Santa Monica really was invaded by aliens.
I was entertained nonetheless![]()
